To acquire a desired length the heating coil of helical shape stretched evenly to a desired length is inserted in round holes provided around the periphery of the block. The end connection are brought to a terminal block for supply of wires & the whole assembly is gripped together by means nuts & washer and an S.S. rod inserted in the centrally located hole of the blocks these heaters having high watt density & are used for the medium requiring direct heating through radiation. These can be manufacture upto any desired length & diameter. But the only disadvantage is that due to the porcelain of blocks fragile in nature, are liable for breakage.
These are used for heating bitumen, heating oil, liquid in corporation heating tubes around them , water heaters etc.
